Spring Maternity Session // Uncertain Times // Covid-19 is affecting all of us
As much as I am sit-in gin my office desperately trying to escape the topic of COVID-19, I simply can’t. This week, a lovely former wedding couple of mine reached out and let me know they were expecting. I was so dang excited because it was such great & distracting news. They wanted to have maternity photos done to document this time but also to be something to look forward to and brighten their spirits. They had just had to cancel their baby shower, because of the obvious.
I met Sam & Meghan at Mt. Tabor Park, in Portland Oregon which is just a short walk from their home. It has incredible views of the city and so many beautiful trees in Spring bloom … I definitely stuffed my face in some of those trees and took a big whiff!! Of course we maintained our distance from each other as I shouted out directions for them and the weather was absolute perfection!
As we went along we chatted and of course recognized the impacts of today’s unknown, tomorrow’s unknown … They are of course excited to be new parents but they are now being met with a slew of uncertainties in their birth plan. Hospitals are the epicenter for this virus, that is concerning. Labor & delivery wards are now only allowing 1 support person with the mother-to-be, everyone get’s screened for symptoms and fever of course … but the most terrifying to an awaiting mom-to-be … the possibility if she herself were to become symptomatic, she could be separated from her newborn for two weeks after birth. This simply does not get any scarier but I think we need to realize where we are today and why it is so damn important for EVERYONE to do their part in social distancing.
Expectant mommas, I see you and I am sending every prayer and blessing your way on the daily. You take care of you and that sweet babe!
As of right now we need to follow the CDC’s recommendations.
